Abstract

In today's dynamic world, sustainable development is one of the most frequently discussed topics. Many countries and cities in Europe classify the problem of excessive urban expansion at the expense of agricultural and forest areas as unsustainable. "Brownfields" are presented as a measure to sustainably reduce the rate of expansion. These "fields" are abandoned industrial, commercial, or military sites. The aim of the study is to prove that through analysis and integration of good practices related to the reuse of "brownfields" in Europe, the pace of growth of the city of Varna can be slowed down. The first step to achieve this is to build an informative platform that connects and facilitates citizens, investors, and the administration.
